Its 6th July 16 and ive decided I survived my last solo experience so let’s try another one. So first things first where to go I always fancied the idea of Croatia. I’d heard a lot of clients returning saying how much they loved it I also wanted something a little different away from the fast food joints and some interesting things to see and do while I’m there.
Well I wasn’t brave enough yet to go solo solo so I contacted a company over in the UK called Solos Travel who offered a trip to Croatia Vodice in the Olympic Hotel to be exact. The flights were included but from Gatwick so I booked the connections with an over night in Gatwick on the way home staying in the Yotel in the airport.
I got the connecting flight and arrived in Split where I met the others. Now I was faced with a group of 15 of us with myself being the youngest I was in my 30’s the others bar 1 were 50′-70’s it was good craic but I’ll be honest and say i was hoping for more around my own age. We all got acquainted and the rep told us where and what time she would be down for breakfast and dinner both these meals were included for the week. I remember the first morning going down for breakfast and there was a card in the middle of the table saying Solos Travel and one of the guys quickly turned it over so no one would see it and think I dunno that we were all there alone but with each other!!!!
It was nice to have a bunch of people to chat to but I found myself heading off on my own adventures. One of these adventures took me on a two hour bus journey down to Split where I met a friend I had happened to see was in Croatia on Facebook. We messaged each other and the following day I was meeting them to go on a day trip to Togir and the Blue Lagoon. I arrived in Split really early I get very excited about new adventures and strolled from the station by the small beach where people were sunbathing on the concrete jetty on their loungers. The water was crystal clear, as I walked through the city it was astonishing to see the polished cobbled narrow streets and the beautiful ornate buildings. Wear wedges or ever better flip flops or you might end up closer to cobbled then you’d like .
I think the bus ticket cost about €7 each way nearly missed the last bus home the bus driver fair play to him held the bus until I bought my ticket.
Another excursion I done was the kirka national park that was a few hours away but worth it for its natural beauty and amazing emerald green waters it was absolutely freezing so I wasn’t swimming but there were lots that did brave it.
One of the highlights was the speedboat we rented for 4 hours with a skipper and headed of. It took a bit of convincing with one of the women but after we came back she admitted it was the highlight of the trip for her and she hadn’t wanted to go!
I think it cost about €400 so €100 each and worth every penny.
I also took a bus into Zadar which was nice but nothing compared to Split. I found a lovely restaurant and sat reading my kindle sipping my cold glass of wine sneaking in some people watching.
Another trip was over to Sibinak we got the bus over and boat back the boat was better value and the scenery was amazing we should of got the boat return. Sibinyak was beautiful what struck me about these little towns including Vodice where we were staying was how tranquil they felt no hustle and bussell just laid back and relaxed no crazy bars none I could find but I wasn’t really looking to be honest you could walk the promenade and people watch. Do be warned though there are no sandy beaches as such they are stoney so bring them sandal jelly ones that strap on you don’t want to loose them.
