The fear of sitting alone at dinner, wondering who you’ll talk to, or what to do if your meal arrives and you need to dash to the bathroom (we’ve all wished for a little “Be right back don’t take my food!” sign)  these are real moments only solo travellers get.

I`m rushing to my Newstalk radio interview, press the button on my car key... and nothing. Dead battery. The car wouldn`t open, and all I could think was, "I`m going to be late!"
One quick phone call to my partner later and he calmly says, "Remember how we used to open cars before remote keys?" 🤦‍♀️
Turns out there`s a hidden key inside the fob! Remove the little cap on the door handle, use the key manually, and you`re in. 🔑
Crisis averted... and I made it to my interview on time! 🎙️
Safe to say I`ll be changing that key battery ASAP! 😂

I swear this must be a woman thing... 😂

There was absolutely nothing wrong with how the furniture was... but this morning I decided it all had to move. 🤣

So I swapped everything from left to right, and now I can`t decide which layout I prefer!

Living on a 60ft barge means every little change makes the space feel completely different, so I`m constantly experimenting.

Living on a barge teaches you one thing very quickly… every inch of space counts! 😂🚤

The ironing board didn`t make the cut, so it`s officially been replaced with a clothes steamer.

Honestly? It`s quicker, takes up hardly any room, and means I don`t have to wrestle with an ironing board in a floating shoebox. 🤣

Tiny home hacks are becoming my new personality, who would of thought it this time 2 years ago I wouldn`t have believed you.

Anyone else ditched the iron, or is it just us barge people? 👇

I stepped out the front door of the barge this evening to a sky painted in every shade of pink, reflecting perfectly across the canal.

No traffic. No noise. Just the gentle ripple of the water and one incredible sunset.

A few weeks ago, I never imagined this would be my evening view. Now, I get to call it home.

I could definitely get used to this. ❤️

Woke up after my first night solo on the barge... and somehow this is my life now. 😂🚤

No alarm clocks, no traffic, just the sound of the water... and me trying to remember where I put everything in a space the size of a generous walk-in wardrobe.

Kettle on. ☕️
Banana pancakes (2 eggs + 1 banana = chef`s kiss 🥞).
A look out the window thinking... "Yep... this is actually home now!"

A few months ago, if you`d told me I`d be living on a barge, I`d have laughed. Now I`m making breakfast on one and wondering what today`s boating lesson will be!

Safe to say, this adventure is just getting started... and I have a feeling there are going to be plenty more laughs along the way. 😂❤️

Our first morning as barge owners... and what a way to start! 🚤✨

We picked up the keys, took a deep breath, and headed straight for our very first lock. Thankfully, the previous owners were there to help us through the first one (we definitely needed it! 😅).

Then came the best part... Dermot confidently explaining to everyone how to cruise a barge properly... despite never having done it himself before! 😂 The confidence was unmatched!

Safe to say there was plenty of laughing, a few nervous moments, and lots of learning. It`s all part of the adventure, and we`re officially hooked.

Here`s to many more locks, plenty more stories, and hopefully looking like we know what we`re doing by the end of the journey! 🚤🍻
