  • It’s the most liberating experience you will ever have travelling to a destination you don’t know to a place that speaks a different language and has a different culture and where there is so much to learn and absorb.
  • It makes you brave
  • Its exciting and terrifying at the same time
  • It pushes you out of your comfort zone
  • You make new friends
  • You see places you might otherwise never see if you waited on your friends to be ready.
  • It gives you freedom and it makes you feel whole
  • Do it for YOU

Top  tips for travelling Solo

  • Book a place that you know is safe somewhere in the centre of things and make yourself familiar with your surroundings
  • Download google maps so that you know how to find where you are looking for if you loose data or reception. I have my timeline switched on which is a great way to track all the places you have been and photos you have taken that day.
  • Book an excursion or day trip or a walking tour these are great places to meet people and get chatting.
  • Always smile it’s a universal language and if you feel good vibes say hi and then see what happens I have made so many friends by doing this on my travels.
  • Always board the flight last this is a no brainer if the flight isn’t full you may get two or even 3 seats to yourself.
  • Make a list of the top places you want to go
  • Familiarize yourself with public transport it will save your feet and you will feel like a local, day or weekly tickets are usually much better value.
  • Hire a bike and cycle you cover more with two wheels then two feet
  • Bring a backpack they are great for carrying all your things and so handy throw your kindle or book in so you can stop in a park and read a little while your resting.
  • Go with your gut it never does you wrong
  • I was actually thinking of making a terminator card ‘ill be back’ to leave on the table in a restaurant when you need to visit the lavatory, so they don’t think you have disappeared
  • Ok it may sound cringe but bring the selfie stick you will regret not getting more pictures.
  • Keep a journal of your trip its amazing how quick you forget things once you are back
  • Take short videos maybe before going to bed of what you done that day its great to have them to look back at.
  • I cant stress enough comfy shoes no city town or country will be remembered for the right reasons if you have blisters on your feet believe me they are the only thing you will be giving your attention to.
  • Bring snacks these in my case are nuts they are great if your peckish but don’t want to stop they tide you over till your next meal and always bring water or a drink its thirsty work exploring.
